Service Description

This course covers 3 Topics: • Topic 1 will cover Planning (permitting, itinerary considerations, seasons, budget) and Gear and Clothing (the big 3, needs vs wants, fabric, layering principles). • Topic 2 will cover Food (calories per day, balanced nutrition, food storage), Safety (basic safety skills, precautions to take before leaving home, navigation), and Special Considerations for Female Hikers. Topic 3 will cover Hygiene, What to Do Before Leaving Home (gear checklist, printing permits, last-minute gear checks), and What to Expect on Trail and in Camp (timing for your hike, camp chores, nighttime worries, what to do before bed). • Summer Session includes workshops on (Dates). Fall Session includes workshops on (Dates). Workshops typically last 1-2 hours, with plenty of time for questions at the end!

Cancellation Policy

A cancelation 30 days (1 month ) prior to a trip date will be refunded 100% - minus credit card handling fees. If a cancellation is made less than 30 days prior to the date of the booked trip, someone no shows, or an incomplete trip - all finances are non-refundable and/or non-transferable. If for any reason participants are not satisfied you are free to leave, but you shall not receive a return of fees for the trip or experience. This policy reflect the fact that our trips are limited to small groups, we do not overbook, and a cancelled space is very difficult to fill last minute, and significant cost is incurred in the planning and preparing for our trips. In the event of an emergency or catastrophe beyond the control of your guide that would require ending a trip early, Maine Guide Company may offer to reschedule your trip at a reduced rate, at our discretion. If for any reason a trip be cancel, the client will have a choice of 100% refund or roll over fees to an alternate trip date. This will be issued as a trip credit redeemable for up to one year after the original missed trip date. .
